SEO stands for search engine optimization is a process of improving the website's organic ranks by providing unique content and implementing techniques as per guidelines of search engines. getting your website on the 1st page of google for relevant keywords without paying money.
What goes into SEO?
To understand the true meaning of SEO, let's break that definition down and look at the parts:
- Quality of traffic. you can attract all the visitors in the world, but if they're coming to your site because Google tells them you're a resource for Apple computers when really you're a farmer selling apples, that is not quality traffic. instead, you want to attract visitors who are genuinely interested in the products that you offer.
- Quantity of traffic. once you have the right people clicking through from those search engine results pages (SERPs), more traffic is better.
- Organic results. ads make up a significant portion of many SERPs, organic traffic that you don't have to pay for.
Organic search traffic is specifically any unpaid traffic that comes from SERPs.
How SEO works
You might think of a search engine as a website you visit, type a question into a box, and Google, Yahoo!, Bing, or whatever search engine you're using magically replies with a long list of links to webpages that could potentially answer your question.
That's true, but have you ever stopped to consider what's behind those magical lists of links?
Here's how SEO works: Google ( or any search engine you're using) has a crawler that goes out and gathers information about all the content they can find on the internet. the crawler brings all those 1s and 0s back to the search engine to build an index. that index is then fed through an algorithm that tries to match all that data with your query.
What are keywords?
Keywords are ideas and topic that define what your content is about. in terms of SEO, they're the words and phrase that searchers enter into search engines, also called "search queries." if you boil everything on your page - all the images, video, copy, etc. - down to simple words and phrases, those are your primary keywords.
There are 3 types of keyword:-
- Informational keyword
ex:- Career in digital marketing
- Buying intent keyword
ex:- Digital marketing courses
- Branded keyword
ex:- Nikonemedia
- Use the right type of keyword as per your goal
What is local SEO?
Local SEO means google my business is a free and easy to used tool for businesses and organizations to manage their online presence across Google, including search and maps. if you verify and edit your business information, you can both help customers find your business and tell them your story.
Google my business listing is a great place to focus your early efforts. after all, when people search for a product or service near them, they're usually very close to making a purchase--one in two people who conduct a local search ( think "watch repair near me") visit a store that day. so as to accurate, complete, and optimized as possible.
- There are two types of SEO -
2. Off-page SEO
What is on-page SEO?
On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing web pages in order to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic in search engines. on-page refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized, as opposed to off-page SEO which refers to a link and other external signals.
The most important on-page SEO ranking factor:-

- Robot.txt
- Bounce rate
- Loading time
- Inbound/outbound link
- UI/UX
- Having optimized titles and descriptions
- Proper URL structures
- Properly optimized h1 tag and other headings

- High-quality content
What is off-page SEO?
Off-page SEO refers to techniques you can use to improve the position of a website on the search engine results page (SERPs). many people associate off-page SEO with link building but it is not only that.
In general, off-page SEO has to do with promotion methods - beyond website design - for the purpose of ranking a website higher in the search results.
The most important off-page SEO ranking factor:-
- Guest posting
- Comment backlink
- Forum posting
- Classified backlink
- Profile backlink
- Directory submission
- Web 2.0 diagram
- Social media bookmarking
The most important tips for making a backlink profile:-
- Domain authority:- The domain authority of a website describes its relevance for a specific subject area or industry. this relevance has a direct impact on its ranking by search engines, trying to assess domain authority through automated analytic algorithms.
- Page authority:- Page authority is a metric, developed by SEOMOZ, to predict the ability of a specific page to rank in search engines. page authority uses a 0 to 100 logarithmic scale. a high page authority score means your page has the potential to rank well in search engine results.
- Anchor text:- Anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink. SEO best practices dictate that anchor text be relevant to the page you're linking to, rather than generic text. the blue, underlined anchor text is the most common as it is the web standard, although it is possible to change the color and underlining through HTML code.
- Follow backlink:- Google takes note of these points, watching how many inbound links a page has and from what sites. Google figures, hey if a lot of people are linking to a certain page, it must be a really good page.
- No-follow backlink:- A no-follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page's favor, does not boost Pagerank, and doesn't help a page's placement in the SERPs. no-follow links get no love. theirs is a sad and lonely life.
- Internal backlink:- An internal link is a link from one page to another page on the same domain. they're simple text hyperlinks from one page to another page on your website.
- External backlink:- External links are hyperlinks that point at any domain other than the domain the link exists on .in layman's terms if another website links to you this is considered an external link to your site. similarly, if you link out to another website, this is also considered an external link.
You can use some SEO tools like- google analytics, webmaster to measure and track the incoming traffic and improve your website.
